Job Description
 3. Support the Director of Risk, Data Analysis and Insight to develop the analysis programme in line with the overall Strategic Plan
 4. Lead and manage the Data Science department, ensuring the delivery of high-quality data insights.
 5. Develop and implement data science strategies to support organisational objectives.
 6. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and solve complex data challenges.
 7. Oversee the design, development, and deployment of predictive models and algorithms.
 8. Ensure compliance with data governance and ethical guidelines in all analytics activities.
 9. Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities for team members.
 10. Communicate findings and actionable insights to senior leadership and key stakeholders.
 11. Select and apply the most appropriate analysis, data science and statistical techniques given the research objectives and the data
 12. Develop appropriate analytical methods in firm-based risk assessment and thematic risks
 13. Provide internal consultancy across Directorates and Programmes on analytical methods and techniques
 14. Stay informed about industry trends and emerging technologies in the public sector.
The Successful Applicant
A successful Head of Data Science should have:
 15. Proven experience in data science and analytics, ideally within the public sector or regulatory body.
 16. A strong background in statistical modelling, machine learning, and data visualisation tools
 17. Expert use of standard statistical tools e.g. R/Python and relevant associated libraries
 18. Deep expertise in building and maintaining AI and machine learning models, including use of deep learning, natural language processing, and LLMs
 19. Excellent leadership and team management skills.
 20. A solid understanding of data governance and ethical considerations.
 21. Outstanding communication skills to present complex data in an accessible manner.
 22. A degree or equivalent qualification in data science, mathematics, or a related field.
 23. Demonstrated ability to collaborate across departments and with senior stakeholders.
What's on Offer
 24. Competitive salary range of £65,000 to £77,000 (London) per annum.
 25. 25 days of annual leave, increasing to 27 after 2 years of service.
