Consultant O&G with an interest in Benign Gynaecology and Colposcopy –Pacomarine Limited
Applications are invited for the substantive post in the North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust, formed by the merger of Peterborough and Stamford Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust with Hinchingbrooke Hospital on 1 April 2017 (3 sites). This is a replacement post arising from retirement. The successful candidate is expected to work across all 3 sites with an annual total of around 6100 deliveries. Appointment will be under the terms of the 2003 Consultant Contract (England).
This role includes leadership in General Obstetrics and Gynaecology and a responsibility to provide obstetric and gynaecology services across the trust.
Main duties and responsibilities
* Report to the Clinical Leads at Peterborough City Hospital (PCH) and Hinchingbrooke Hospital (HH)
* Be accountable to the Medical Director
* Pursue an interest aligned with service needs and provide leadership in General Obstetrics and Gynaecology
* Maintain the highest clinical standards in the management of obstetric patients
* Care for women with benign gynaecology conditions
* Provide one-stop hysteroscopy services and leadership in training juniors
* Provide a colposcopy service
* Collaborate in MDT/Colposcopy meetings
* Work with obstetric and midwifery teams to help reduce perinatal mortality rates through participation in national initiatives
* Provide clinical input and leadership for the specialty
* Liaise with management to gain appropriate infrastructure for service provision
* Accept personal responsibility for the clinical care of patients
* Attend regular departmental meetings and participate in department management and development of the service
* Provide emergency care to acute gynaecology emergencies whilst on call; cover obstetrics and gynaecology emergencies during on-call periods
Essential qualifications and experience
* MBBS (or equivalent)
* MRCOG or equivalent
* ATSM Benign Gynaecology
* ATSM Hysteroscopy and Colposcopy
* CCT and/or inclusion on the Specialist Register of GMC or within six months of the Appointments Advisory Committee
* Full GMC Registration
Desirable qualifications and experience
* Labour Ward ATSM or equivalent (or grandfathering)
* Experience in MDT team working, leadership in managing labour wards and acute emergencies
* Recent active involvement in practical intrapartum obstetrics
* Broad experience in Obstetrics
* Experience working in gynae-oncology
* Teaching at post- and undergraduate levels
Academic and other requirements
* Able to demonstrate successful participation in audit (essential)
* Evidence of attendance and presentation at obstetric and gynecology meetings (desirable)
* Evidence of completed and published research (desirable)
