We're excited to be recruiting a permanent Business Service Officer based in our Derby office. If you enjoy being part of a busy, welcoming workplace where no two days are the same, this could be the perfect next step for you.

Where you'll work

This is an office‑based role, and your regular presence in the Derby office is essential to the work we do.

You'll be a key point of support for colleagues when they're on site, whether that's Social Workers meeting children and families, teams gathering for supervision or meetings, or staff needing day‑to‑day operational help. You'll also provide a warm, professional welcome to external visitors, including children and families and contractors.

While you will still have some flexibility for occasional remote working, this role is ideal for someone who enjoys being central to a team, building relationships face‑to‑face, and contributing to a vibrant workplace atmosphere.

You'll receive regular 1:1 time with your manager, especially during your induction, with a balance of in‑person and virtual support to help you settle in and feel confident in your role.

What You'll Be Doing…

As a Business Services Officer, you'll play a vital role in ensuring our service runs smoothly and efficiently. You will:

monitor case progression
receive referrals from the Court or Cafcass Intake Team
create, update and close cases within our case management system
send letters and information packs to children and families
identify missing information and follow up as needed
deal with telephone enquiries with professionalism and care
welcome visitors to the office, including children, families, contractors and other professionals
provide general administrative support to colleagues and managers

Your work will play an important part in helping our teams make a meaningful difference to children and families.

What We're Looking For…

We'd love to hear from you if you are:

qualified in business administration (e.g. NVQ2), willing to work towards a qualification, or have relevant experience
confident using MS Office applications at a basic/intermediate level
a clear, friendly and professional communicator; email, phone and face‑to‑face
a team player who enjoys being part of an office community
organised and able to prioritise your workload in a fast‑paced environment with tight deadlines
