* DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance - this post is covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (amended in 2013). Manchester City Council are recruiting panel members for fostering panels that oversee Foster Carer approvals and reviews.
The Fostering Panel plays a key role in ensuring robust assessments of prospective carers, evidencing their ability to meet children's needs while adhering to regulations and standards. It also oversees annual reviews and allegations concerning Foster Carers.
We seek panel members with understanding of fostering and safeguarding experience with children and families, focusing on placing children at the heart of our work, collaborating with other panel members, and complying with fostering regulations and standards.

We welcome candidates with experience in:
* Working with children and families in safeguarding roles from various backgrounds (schools, health, youth offending, foster carers, etc.)
* Reading and understanding complex information quickly and accurately
* Understanding and applying fostering standards and regulations
* Collaborative work in multidisciplinary teams making recommendations to the local authority
* Social workers must be registered with Social Work England
* Willingness to undergo a DBS check
A fixed allowance of £150 per panel is paid, covering reading and attendance. Panels occur weekly; minimum participation is once a month, with additional panels by agreement.
