We are looking for a Welding Engineer/Co-ordinator for a full-time, permanent role in Stockport.
Main Duties
Ensure compliance with welding standards and procedures - RWC for business
Support the business with day-to-day welding activities
Lead the works order planning data (welding) for SAP
Plan and coordinate internal welder audits and the audit functions related to welding accreditations
Identify root causes of weld issues and internal weld audit NCR's, using structured problem solving methodology
Support strategic changes driven by Root Cause Corrective Actions (RCCA) to implement change
Reviewing welding related suppliers to ensure suitability to provide the required services
Develop WPS's as required for new product intake (NPI) and legacy programmes
Develop standard operating procedures (SOP) or work instructions applicable to welding ensuring all required information cascades correctly
Perform EN 1090, ISO 3834 & DIN 2303 pre-audit analysis and identify any potential NCR's
Coordinate welder qualification testing to BS EN ISO 9606, 14732 to ensure compliance
Support production engineering & design on welding related matters and drive change as required
Support the business to ensure correct welding plant selection
Support the business to identify latest technology / best in class welding equipment applicable to KNDS projects / products
Implement change with legacy programmes to ensure product quality is maintained whilst identifying areas to improve.

IWT / EWT qualified
Registration with the welding institute (TWI)
CSWIP 3.1 qualified
Previous welding coordination experience
Excellent knowledge and understanding of multiple welding processes, MIG/MAG(SMAW) TIG(GTAW)
Understanding of technical documents inc drawings
Working knowledge of ISO 3834
Exposure to external audit activity
Experience in general computer skills
People management skills
Desirable Requirements (training available)
IWE / EWE qualified
CSWIP 3.1 qualified
MSc in Welding Engineering
Metallurgy Degree or equivalent
5 years experience in a similar role
Good understanding of mechanised welding systems
Good understanding of automated welding systems
Previous aluminium welding experience
Experience working with armour steel
Working Knowledge of DIN 2303
Working Knowledge of EN 1090
