Grade 4 starting at £25,733 to £29,179 per annum, pro rata if part time. This role is not eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route.

About the role

A position for a Senior Technician is available in the laboratory of Leon Lagnado, funded by Wellcome. The post-holder will be responsible for contributing to projects involving neurophysiological experiments with larval zebrafish, including the use of multiphoton microscopy to image neural activity and development of software for quantitative analysis and modelling. The general aim of the projects is to understand the circuit mechanisms that underly early visual processing. The post-holder may be provided with the opportunity to study for a PhD if they do not already hold this qualification.

Applicants must be educated to at least Batchelor’s level in a Neuroscience or Biomedical discipline. They should have a strong background in data analysis (e.g using Python, C or similar).

Previous experience in the analysis of multiphoton imaging experiments would be an advantage.

In the 2021 Research Excellence Framework, 90.6 % of our Biological Sciences outputs and 84.8% of our Chemistry outputs were rated as world-leading or internationally excellent. We are proud that in both areas, 100% of our Impact cases were rated as world-leading or internationally excellent.
