Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Senior Accountant role based in Nottinghamshire. The Senior Accountant will manage a portfolio of clients, preparing statutory accounts, management accounts, and tax returns for businesses and individuals. Responsibilities include leading and reviewing audit assignments, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations, and providing proactive tax planning and business advisory support. The role will involve reviewing the work of junior team members, providing guidance and mentoring, and helping to maintain high-quality client service. The Senior Accountant will also assist partners with complex technical queries, support process improvements within the practice, and contribute to client meetings and presentations as required.
Qualifications
* Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, or equivalent), with proven post-qualification experience in practice, or qualified by experience.
* Strong technical expertise in financial reporting, statutory accounts preparation, and audit procedures, including familiarity with UK accounting standards.
* Solid knowledge of personal and corporate tax compliance, with experience in preparing and reviewing tax returns and supporting tax planning initiatives.
* Proficiency with accounting software, spreadsheets, and general office applications; experience with cloud-based accounting systems is an advantage.
* Demonstrated ability to review and supervise the work of junior colleagues, provide constructive feedback, and support their development.
* Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and numerical skills, with strong attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
* Clear and professional communication skills, including the ability to explain financial information to non-specialists and build client relationships.
* Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple assignments and prioritize workload effectively.
* Previous experience in a small or mid-sized practice environment is desirable; experience with owner-managed businesses is a plus.
