Job Summary
Assists in providing direct patient care under the supervision of the certified Medical Assistant, Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, or Provider. Identifies and meets patient needs in an outpatient setting in compliance with hospital policies. Actively seeks learning opportunities in the clinic environment.
Minimum Qualifications
* High School diploma or equivalent OR currently a junior or senior in high school enrolled in an accredited Medical Assistant Program.
* Current CPR certification upon hire or obtained within 90 days of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
* Currently enrolled in an accredited Medical Assistant Program.
Core Duties and Responsibilities
The following statements describe the general nature of work for this position and are not exhaustive. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Perform direct patient care activities, applying good judgment and skills.
2. Report observations and concerns to the RN, LPN, or Provider.
3. Document appropriately in patient charts per policy.
4. Assist with rooming patients, completing forms, assessments, vital signs, etc.
5. Perform clerical tasks including use of computers, filing, answering phones, etc.
6. Scan outside medical records and reconcile test results into the EMR under supervision.
7. Handle calls and visitors professionally, routing as needed.
8. Conduct quality checks of equipment and supplies.
9. Schedule testing procedures for patients.
10. Complete on-the-job training and in-service education under supervision.
11. Scribe documentation into patient records as appropriate.
Physical Requirements
Must meet physical demands such as walking, standing, lifting, manual dexterity, and visual acuity. Reasonable accommodations may be provided.
Working Environment
Exposure to body fluids, infectious materials, chemicals, and high-stress situations is possible. The environment includes office space under fluorescent lighting and potential electrical hazards.
