Gafoor is a dynamic and rapidly growing family‑owned business in Preston. It supplies poultry products to leading blue‑chip manufacturers on a national basis.
About the Role
We are recruiting several electrical and mechanical engineers to facilitate a move to a rotating shift pattern during the summer. Successful applicants will work closely with the manufacturing team, maintaining and servicing all processing machinery to keep downtime minimal and to conduct preventive maintenance to avoid production disruption. Candidates should have experience in a similar manufacturing environment and be able to carry out preventive maintenance, fault‑finding and resolve machine downtime efficiently.
The role involves rotating across a multi‑disciplinary team working both day and night shifts. Excellent communication skills are essential, as is a flexible and proactive approach to meet business needs.
Only candidates who already have a valid VISA and are working in the UK will be considered for sponsorship.
Key Responsibilities
* Complete repairs and breakdowns in a timely manner and perform RCA (Root Cause Analysis) to ensure corrective and preventive actions are completed.
* Maintain the highest standards of housekeeping.
* Comply with all company Health & Safety rules and be able to raise any failures.
* Work closely with the Engineering Manager and Manufacturing Managers.
* Be part of an engineering team dedicated to providing a world‑class service.
* Communicate effectively, taking the initiative to lead when required.
* Contribute to continuous improvement of processes and practices.
* Comply with all existing SWPs and contribute to their continuous improvement.
* Support and mentor electrical apprentices on site, in the future.
Essential Requirements
* Fluency in English (verbal and written).
* Excellent IT skills.
* Relevant degree and a strong practical working knowledge.
* Minimum 3 years post‑qualification experience in a fast‑paced factory or manufacturing environment.
* Good experience and ability to demonstrate a methodical approach to fault‑finding.
* Conversant with UK Health & Safety rules, regulations and best practices.
* Ability to prioritize workload and concisely record information.
