The role
Imagination's PowerVR graphics division produce the world's leading family of ultra-low power GPU IP cores that will power tomorrow's cutting-edge technology. In PowerVR Software, working with experienced Compiler Engineers, you will help design, develop and test the mid end/backend compiler infrastructure that will help Imagination's customers take the most of current and next generation GPU hardware capabilities. As part of the compiler team, you will work on various projects.
You will:
1. Contribute to existing big open source projects, including Mesa, with a compiler-specific focus.
2. Design and develop for the current and next generation graphics cores
3. Get involved in all aspects of the software development cycle, from requirements, through design, implementation, code review and testing
4. Maintain the compilers throughout the whole software and hardware life-cycles
5. Work closely within the team and liaise externally with other research and development teams
6. Support customers and their partners in bringing new products to market

You'll have:
7. Excellent C programming skills
8. Excellent software design and problem solving skills
9. Knowledge of how graphics hardware works
10. A good understanding of compiler theory, technique and development.
11. A background or degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field
12. Experience with managing and configuring a Linux system
You might also have:
13. Experience with modern graphics and compute APIs (Vulkan, OpenGL ES, OpenCL, EGL, etc)
14. Experience with a compiler framework such as NIR and LLVM, with a preference for backend compiler familiarity.
15. Experience with version control software (preferably Git)
16. Experience of upstreaming changes to an open source project
17. Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python and Shell Script, e.g. Bash
