Calderdale College is a general further education provider with the main campus situated in Halifax. The College is the largest provider of vocational education and work-based learning and the sole provider of higher education awards in Calderdale, with the majority of students drawn from the local borough. Judged as a good college with outstanding features by Ofsted in January 2023 and with success rates at a consistently high level, the College is ambitious and forward looking. Being a Governor is a highly rewarding, voluntary role where you will be able to make a real difference and have an opportunity to use and enhance your professional skills. As College Governor, you will help us to shape the future with a particular focus on ensuring that we maintain high levels of financial governance, consistently high standards of teaching and learning practice across the College and ensuring that our provision meets the needs of local employers and the economy as a whole. The Board meets four times a year plus three Governor Development days. In addition, Governors are encouraged to also use their expertise by being a member of one of the Corporations Committees. For the continued success of the College, it is essential that we recruit Board members with the right skills and experience, and we are keen to involve people of all ages and cultural backgrounds. We are particularly keen to hear from people with a local community interest, those with HR experience, an interest in digital / IT or an interest in Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND). This is an exciting time to join the Board at Calderdale College. Much has been achieved over recent years and the College has a high reputation locally, regionally and nationally. Although this is a challenging time for the education sector, we believe the College is in a good position to meet these challenges. We therefore seek to ensure the Board has access to the best possible expertise to fulfil our aspirations. If you are excited by the opportunity, and believe that you have the skills, experience and ambition to help us deliver our vision, values and strategic objectives, then we would welcome your application.
