Then look no further….Mechanic - 6-Month Fixed-Term ContractSalary - £16.26 per hourHours - 45 hours per weekLocation - Hereford, HR2 8BHAs a Mechanic at FCC Environment, you will carry out mandatory servicing and preventative maintenance on our fleet of refuse collection vehicles and other HGVs, ensuring they are operating safely and efficiently. You will play a key role in maintaining our high standards and supporting our commitment to sustainable waste management.This vacancy is for a full-time position, working 5 days per week.Our promise to you- Competitive salary- 25 days’ annual leave (full-time working) plus Bank Holidays- Pension scheme- On-the-job training and progression- Recognition scheme- Refer a friend incentive- Flexible benefits including high street savings, cycle to work scheme and Gymflex membership, holiday purchase and more (Where applicable)- Access to an Employee Assistance Programme and the Best Doctors Service via our Wellbeing PlatformWhat will you be doing?- Carry out scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance on fleet vehicles- Identify, diagnose and rectify faults effectively- Conduct roadside breakdown repairs when necessary- Order correct parts efficiently and cost-effectively- Work proactively with drivers to encourage accurate defect reporting- Maintain a clean and safe working environment- Ensure all tasks are completed in line with health and safety regulations- Collaborate positively with third-party contractorsWhat are we looking for?- Previous experience working on HGVs is desirable- Knowledge of refuse collection vehicles is an advantage- Competent with vehicle diagnostics- Category C driving licence preferred (flexible for the right candidate)- Proactive, self-motivated and committed to completing tasks- Flexible and willing to learn- Excellent timekeeping and a strong team player- Familiarity with the local area is a plusAbout UsWe are FCC Environment, one of the UK’s leading waste and resource management companies.
