Lead Theatre Practitioner
About the role
This full‑time position is 37.5 hours per week and requires covering a flexible shift pattern at Winterbourne Hospital, Dorchester. The Lead Theatre Practitioner will provide day‑to‑day leadership and supervision for theatre practitioners and support staff, ensuring high‑quality, patient‑centred care across the perioperative pathway.
Responsibilities
* Lead the delivery of high‑quality, patient‑centred care across the perioperative pathway, acting as a specialist or functional lead within the team.
* Ensure that all patient safety checks, including WHO surgical safety processes, are carried out in accordance with hospital policy.
* Provide day‑to‑day leadership and supervision for theatre practitioners and support staff, fostering a culture of professionalism, compassion, and accountability.
* Support the development and assessment of competencies within the team, promoting continuous professional development.
* Act as an advocate for patients, ensuring their rights, safety, and dignity are upheld at all times.
* Raise concerns where standards of care or safeguarding protocols are not met, in line with Circle Health Group policy.
Qualifications and Experience
* NMC or HCPC registered practitioner with significant experience in a theatre environment (e.g. scrub, recovery, or anaesthetics).
* Demonstrated clinical leadership experience and ability to act as a role model to peers.
* Strong understanding of patient safety protocols, safeguarding, infection control, and clinical governance.
* Scrub Practitioner or Surgical First Assistant qualification (for scrub leads).
* ENB 998 and/or mentorship course.
* Approved or recognised anaesthetic course.

* Salary: Up to £50,000.00 per year, depending on level of experience, training and qualification.
