Offer description

Delta Blue Unicorns CIC – Moray, Scotland (with planned expansion to Southern England)

Delta Blue Unicorns CIC is a highly regarded equestrian social enterprise based in Moray, Scotland. With a herd of sixteen horses and a growing reputation for equine-assisted learning, we deliver inclusive programmes that support individuals and communities across the region.

We are proud to be approved by the British Horse Society (Highly Commended), ABRS, and licensed by Moray Council. Our facilities are fully accessible, and our services include therapeutic sessions, seasonal camps, horse sponsorship, and community outreach.

As we prepare to expand to a second site in Southern England in 2026, we are seeking to appoint a new Non-Executive Director to join our Board from late October 2025. This opportunity arises following the departure of a valued board member due to a career change that limits their availability.

The Role As a Non-Executive Director, you will provide strategic oversight, governance, and independent challenge to help guide the organisation through its next phase of growth. You will:
• Participate actively in monthly board meetings (held virtually)
• Review and monitor strategic plans, financial performance, and organisational capability
• Support legal, ethical, risk, and environmental compliance
• Advise on significant investments and structural changes
• Collaborate with fellow board members, stakeholders, and community partners
• Help identify opportunities for business development and revenue generation
• Contribute to executive team appointments and leadership development
• Evaluate training programme effectiveness and recommend improvements
• Foster a positive organisational culture rooted in teamwork, inclusion, and innovation

Candidate Profile We welcome applications from individuals across the UK with experience in:
• Project management, process improvement, or business development
• Sales, marketing, or profit and loss accountability
• Financial oversight, budgeting, and reporting
• Stakeholder engagement and community partnership building
• Leadership and team motivation

You should possess excellent communication skills, sound financial literacy, and a working knowledge of governance best practices, along with an interest in the welfare of horses.

An interest in, or experience of, the Special Educational Needs (SEN) community or the mental health and wellbeing sector would be advantageous, though not essential. We value

diverse perspectives and welcome candidates who bring empathy, insight, and a commitment to inclusive practice.

Board meetings are held monthly via video (approx. 1 hour), with an additional commitment of around 1 hour per week for governance and strategic support.

Remuneration & Terms This is a voluntary role with a modest stipend of £200 per month before tax, intended to recognise your time and contribution. The true reward lies in helping shape a mission-led organisation that transforms lives through equine therapy, community connection, and ethical growth.

Initial appointments are for a two-year term. Diversity, equity, and inclusion are central to our work, and we actively welcome applications from individuals of all backgrounds.
