Job summary
Are you passionate about supporting people on their recovery journey? We're looking for a dedicated Assessment and Engagement Worker to join our community drug and alcohol service in New Milton on a full-time, 12-month fixed-term contract.
In this vital role, you'll be the first point of contact for individuals accessing support, conducting comprehensive assessments, and engaging them in tailored interventions that promote long-term recovery. You'll work closely with individuals, families, and partner agencies to ensure people receive the right support at the right time.

Main duties of the job
* Conduct comprehensive assessments for individuals accessing the service.
* Develop and implement person-centred recovery plans.
* Complete risk assessments and create effective risk management plans.
* Provide harm reduction interventions and brief interventions.
* Meet and greet service users, ensuring a welcoming and supportive environment.
* Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to deliver holistic support.
* Promote visible recovery and encourage engagement in the recovery community.
* Support individuals to access appropriate services and interventions.
* Maintain accurate records and contribute to service development.

* Oversee the hub's front-of-house area, ensuring staff and Recovery Supporter Volunteers facilitate effective brief interventions.
* Engage with service users on arrival, addressing day-to-day issues as they arise.
* Undertake screenings and comprehensive assessments with service users.
* Utilise evidence-based tools and interventions to support recovery.
* Manage a small caseload of service users and support them through their recovery journey.
* Manage complex behaviours within the reception/open access area.
* Signpost to local services and empower service users to build community networks and recovery capital.
* Promote visible and contagious recovery within the hub.
* Ensure the front-of-house team operates effectively in line with Inclusion policies and procedures.

Person Specification
Qualifications (Essential):
* Accredited Drug and Alcohol Practitioner, or willingness to work towards accreditation during employment.
Experience and Knowledge (Essential):
* Experience in the drug and alcohol field.
Desirable:
* Understanding of motivational and engagement strategies.
Skills and Abilities (Essential):
* Excellent communication skills.
* Excellent IT skills and adaptability to new IT systems.
* Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and with external stakeholders.
