We’re working with a welcoming primary school in Romford looking for a full-time Learning Support Assistant to support pupils with Special Educational Needs. You’ll be supporting children who are working towards the national curriculum, so a solid understanding of the primary curriculum is really important. Some pupils may need extra help staying focused, regulating emotions, or managing behaviour in the classroom, so the school is looking for someone who can build positive relationships while keeping learning on track. No two days are ever quite the same, but that’s part of the magic. What you’ll be doing: Supporting children with SEN in and out of the classroom Helping pupils access learning linked to the primary national curriculum Managing behaviour positively and confidently Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO Creating a calm, encouraging learning environment Supporting pupils socially, emotionally, and academically What the school is looking for: Experience supporting children with SEN Strong behaviour management skills A good understanding of the primary curriculum A calm, resilient, and proactive attitude Someone who can build trust quickly with pupils and staff Relevant experience in schools, care, youth work, or support settings Bonus points if you have: Experience with autism, ADHD, SEMH, or speech and language needs Thrive training or other SEN-based CPD Team Teach or de-escalation training Not Thrive trained yet?
