About the Project:
The Yorkshire Green Project is a key infrastructure upgrade to reinforce the transmission network in Northern England, supporting increased renewable energy integration. This includes the design and construction of a new 400kV substation and associated connections as part of National Grid's broader investment in the region's electrical infrastructure.
Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of a new 400kV substation within the Yorkshire Green Project. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of managing high-voltage substation projects, ideally with prior involvement in schemes of national significance.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the end-to-end delivery of a new 400kV substation, from early construction phases through to commissioning.
Manage multidisciplinary project teams including design, procurement, civils, and electrical installation.
Serve as the primary interface with National Grid, contractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders.
Ensure compliance with National Grid's TP137/TGN and other relevant engineering governance frameworks.
Lead risk management, programme control, budget tracking, and reporting processes.
Ensure project milestones are met safely, on time, and within budget.
Drive contractor performance and foster a collaborative working environment.
Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, environmental, and quality (SHEQ) requirements.
Essential Experience & Qualifications:
Extensive experience in delivering 400kV (or other high-voltage) substation projects.
Proven track record working on National Grid projects, with a deep understanding of NG standards and procedures.
Strong leadership and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to navigate complex interfaces.
Degree-qualified in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent).
APM, PMP, or PRINCE2 qualification (desirable).
Strong commercial awareness and familiarity with NEC contracts.
