Lead operations across a major UK TiO₂ manufacturing site
Wolviston Management Services is proud to be working in partnership with TIOXIDE to recruit a Head of Operations – White End for their Greatham site.
This is a senior leadership role with responsibility for White End Operations, including process operations, maintenance, engineering, services and outbound logistics. You will lead a team of around 80 employees and contractors, taking ownership of safety, production, quality, cost performance and continuous improvement across a key manufacturing area.
As part of the Greatham Senior Leadership Team, you will help shape and deliver the site’s manufacturing improvement strategy, annual improvement plans, capital expenditure priorities and operational performance.
What you’ll be doing
You will:
Lead White End Operations, Maintenance and Engineering teams across process operations, services and outbound logistics.
Take ownership of White End EHS and Process Safety Management performance, driving continuous improvement through clear KPIs.
Deliver production volume, quality and financial targets in line with budget and supply chain requirements.
Ensure production risks are understood, managed and investigated, with actions in place to reduce losses.
Lead the maintenance and engineering approach for White End, ensuring legal, corporate and inspection requirements are met.
Manage significant direct and indirect cost budgets, with proactive plans to support monthly and annual performance targets.
Build, motivate and develop a high-performing team with the capability to deliver safety, production and engineering priorities.
Contribute to Greatham’s site manufacturing improvement strategy, annual Blue Chips and capital expenditure plan.
Own the White End elements of the site improvement plan.
Support successful delivery of White End capital projects alongside Site Engineering and Projects teams.
Act as Senior Duty Manager and Site Main Controller when required.
Work closely with sales and operations planning teams to optimise the S&OP plan and meet business needs. The White End area includes multiple unit operations, site services, outbound logistics, warehousing, site eco-products, and process liquid and solid waste handling facilities.
We welcome applications from people who have
A degree, or equivalent knowledge, in Chemical Engineering, manufacturing engineering or another relevant discipline.
Senior operational or engineering leadership experience within complex process, chemical, manufacturing or similar industrial environments.
Experience leading sizeable operational, maintenance, engineering or multidisciplinary teams.
A strong understanding of EHS, Process Safety Management, production delivery, maintenance performance and cost control.
Experience delivering operational improvement, cultural strengthening and change in a complex site environment.
The ability to lead, influence and engage people across operational, technical and senior stakeholder groups.
Strong commercial awareness, with experience managing budgets, performance targets and improvement plans.
Chartered status, or membership of a relevant professional institution, would be welcomed.
Experience in high-hazard or upper-tier COMAH environments would be beneficial.
