Who we need We are seeking to appoint an safeguarding and Behaviour Manager to: We are looking to appoint a Safeguarding and Behaviour Manager to play a pivotal role in creating a safe and supportive environment for all Nottingham College students. The successful candidate will: · Lead the safeguarding team in delivering the College’s Safeguarding offer, ensuring compliance with statutory duties and providing students with a safe and positive experience. · Design, develop, and deliver a wide range of high-quality safeguarding and Prevent-related training for staff and students. Training must be compliant with legislation, align with local authority referral procedures, reflect identified risks (both locally and nationally), and promote best practice. This includes delivering accredited specialist training and tailored sessions to meet the organisation’s complex needs. · Provide ongoing professional development and training opportunities for the safeguarding team to ensure continuous improvement and up-to-date knowledge. · Support the Designated Safeguarding Lead and Line Manager in overseeing the team of Designated Safeguarding Officers and First Response Officers—offering practical guidance, problem-solving, and accountability. · Lead the implementation of the Prevent Duty, including managing the associated action plan and risk assessment. Serve as the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for Prevent across all college sites, apprenticeships, and subcontracted provision. · Act as Designate for Looked After Learners, contributing to the development of strategies and policies aimed at reducing barriers to education and improving retention among Looked After and Vulnerable Learners. · Manage a team of Behaviour Mentors, supporting students with complex needs by developing tailored support plans, incorporating appropriate technologies and strategies to enhance learning and engagement. What you’ll bring The ideal candidate will have experience within Safeguarding and Behaviour · Extensive experience in a senior safeguarding role, handling complex issues such as abuse, neglect, radicalisation, and child sexual exploitation (CSE). · A thorough and up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding legislation, statutory duties, and relevant national guidance. · Current expertise in supporting young people facing significant behavioural and emotional challenges. · A comprehensive understanding of safeguarding referral pathways, support services, and legal responsibilities, ideally within a large and complex organisation. · Proven experience in designing and delivering training for staff and students on safeguarding and behaviour management topics. · A track record of leading and managing teams to effectively plan, implement, monitor, and evaluate safeguarding and behaviour strategies within an educational context. · Demonstrated ability to manage highly sensitive and complex situations, exercising sound judgement, discretion, and professionalism.
