Our large fresh produce client is currently seeking a Label Operator to join their Quality Assurance team within a fast-paced fresh produce packing environment. This is a permanent role reporting to the QA Manager, with a key focus on ensuring accurate, compliant and efficient label production across all packing lines.
Purpose of the Role
To ensure all product labels are printed, checked, issued and controlled accurately and in full compliance with customer, legal and food safety requirements. The role plays a critical part in maintaining traceability, minimising waste and supporting efficient production.
Key Responsibilities
1. Print and issue labels to packing lines using DataGuard and Vector software, ensuring correct product details, date codes, weights, customer specifications and legal compliance
2. Complete daily label production check forms accurately and on time
3. Carry out routine verification checks to prevent mislabelling, rework, customer complaints or product withdrawals
4. Maintain label printing systems, ensuring files and templates are up to date and correctly uploaded
5. Manage label stock control, including stock counts, usage monitoring and availability
6. Place weekly label orders in line with production plans and lead times, escalating risks of shortages in advance
7. Record, report and escalate printer faults or system issues to minimise downtime
8. Produce and submit weekly label waste reports, supporting waste reduction initiatives
9. Maintain a clean, organised and safe label room in line with hygiene and Health & Safety standards
10. Communicate effectively with Line Leaders, QA and Production teams regarding labelling and quality issues
11. Follow all SOPs, food safety standards and site policies at all times
About You
12. Minimum 2 years’ experience using label printing software such as DataGuard, Vector or similar
13. Excellent attention to detail with a strong understanding of label compliance and traceability
14. Confident IT skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel
15. Good written and spoken English
16. Highly organised and methodical, with strong stock control and documentation skills
17. Able to work calmly under pressure in a fast-paced production environment
18. Strong communicator with confidence to raise concerns and escalate issues
19. Proactive, solution-focused and positive in attitude
20. Flexible team player willing to support other departments when required
21. Reliable, punctual and committed to high standards of hygiene, quality and safety
