Main duties of the job
The Child Health team at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS) are delighted to be able to offer an exciting opportunity for a reliable, friendly and enthusiastic individual to join the Paediatric Dermatology Nurse Specialist team.
This post is a fantastic training and development role, for an individual who would like to experience an introduction to autonomous specialist nursing within a supportive and dynamic paediatric dermatology team.
The role includes working with children, young people and families supporting care of often complex and chronic dermatological conditions. You would be offered extensive training to enable you to give appropriate support and high quality evidence based care, including biologic treatments, advising on topical therapy regimes and assisting with a monthly surgical list which undertakes a broad range of procedures under local anaesthetic.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
Communicate with patients in ways that empower them to make informed choices about their health and health care. Act as advocate for individual patients and the client group.
Work collaboratively and in partnership with other health care professionals, offering appropriate, guidance and supervision to colleagues.
Contribute appropriately to clinical governance activities that relate to own area of practice and patient/client group.
Be involved in planning and implementing standards of care, practice guidelines and where appropriate Integrated Care Pathways, and to continually evaluate the quality of patient care.

Qualifications, Knowledge And Experience
Essential criteria
* Registered nurse on relevant part of the NMC register
* Degree qualification, 120 credits at L6 or possess an equivalent knowledge to be assessed through evidence of relevant specialist training, experience or portfolio
* Significant post registration experience / qualification / training, including experience and knowledge within relevant speciality
* Completion of all Band 5 (preceptorship) competencies
* Higher Education Institute approved course in supporting learners in practice or evidence assessed to be of equivalent experience, demonstrating support to a range of learners in practice. Provide evidence of both supporting a range of learners in practice and supporting colleagues to promote effective learning in practice
* Extensive post registration experience within specialist area.
* Knowledge of current issues within the acute health service.
* Understanding of personal accountability.
