Design Manager | Water Sector
Vertical Recruitment are working with a multidisciplinary consultancy delivering engineering, asset management and commercial services across the water, energy and environmental sectors. Due to an increase in workload across long term frameworks, they are looking to appoint a Design Manager to support major wastewater programmes in the North West.
The Opportunity - This role sits within a high profile programme focused on improving wastewater infrastructure and reducing environmental impact. You will lead the delivery of multidisciplinary design solutions across wastewater infrastructure and non infrastructure projects, ensuring work is delivered safely, on time and within budget.
The position offers hybrid working, with 2 to 3 days per week based from a client office, alongside site visits as required.
Projects and Sectors: Wastewater and sewage treatment/ Environmental improvement programmes/ Feasibility, outline and detailed design/ Long term framework and programme delivery
Responsibilities are likely to include:
* Managing multidisciplinary design teams across complex projects
* Delivering design outputs to programme, budget and quality targets
* Leading feasibility, outline and detailed design stages
* Undertaking and overseeing technical reviews and assurance
* Managing risk, safety and quality across projects
* Supporting fee proposals, work planning and forecasting
* Managing client relationships and framework performance
* Line managing and mentoring engineers and technical staff
* Promoting knowledge sharing and continuous improvement
* Supporting business development within existing and new frameworks
You will ideally have:
* A degree in an engineering discipline
* Chartered Engineer status or working towards
* Strong experience within the UK water sector
* Proven design management or project leadership experience
* Commercial and contractual awareness
* Experience leading multidisciplinary teams
* Strong client facing and stakeholder management skills
* Knowledge of UK water industry standards and regulations
