Overview
Southwest Pathology Services (SPS) in Somerset has an exciting opportunity for a band 7 Team Manager who will lead the Haematology section in the hospital essential service laboratories (ESLs). The role focuses on providing a high-quality, patient-centric service, mentoring and sharing knowledge, and ensuring delivery of the 24/7 service while maintaining UKAS accreditation for Haematology and Coagulation. The Band 7 Team Manager will be eligible for a discretionary team performance bonus up to 5% of salary per annum.
Responsibilities
* To manage, supervise and provide professional leadership to a team of Biomedical Scientists and support staff at the ESLs
* To work with Team Manager and Advanced Practitioner colleagues to provide professional leadership across Blood Sciences
* To ensure a high quality of analysis to provide patients with the highest level of diagnosis and treatment within agreed quality standards of service delivery and turnaround times
* To provide expert level theoretical & practical knowledge and training in Haematology/Coagulation
* To have full knowledge and ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements and ISO 15189 standards as they apply to Haematology/Coagulation
* Line management responsibility for a named group of Biomedical Scientists and Associate Practitioners
* Attendance at monthly meetings with the Haematology Consultants and Advanced Practitioner
Qualifications
* HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist, with post-registration experience in Haematology
* MSc in Haematology or Biomedical Sciences; or FIBMS by examination; or demonstrates equivalent experience
* IBMS Higher Specialist Diploma in Haematology or evidence of equivalent experience
* Management Qualification to ILM level 3; or commitment to work towards; or evidence of equivalent experience
