About the Role
A young man with Epilepsy from Llandeilo requires a Personal Assistant for 4 hours per week to access the community to gain skills and build on his independence during week days. He would like to build friendships with people who share similar interests and seek a volunteering opportunity. The Personal Assistant will support him with medication when needed.
Responsibilities
* Support the employer to access the community to gain skills and encouragement in gaining independence.
* Enable the employer to interact socially within his community.
* Assist with finding a volunteering opportunity within the community and provide support with this.
* Provide support during shopping and attendance at activities of interest.
* Support the employer to develop independent living skills.
* Provide companionship in the employer's home, including engaging in conversation and social interaction.
* Encourage the employer to attend appointments.
* Ensure the employer's safety at all times during working hours.
* Carry out any other reasonable tasks requested by the employer during working hours.
* Ensure compliance with the Data Protection Act.
* Be mindful of safeguarding issues and report any concerns to Carmarthenshire County Council immediately at 01267 228751.
* Contact the GP, Social Worker or Local Authority should the employer need medical assistance.
Relationships & Communication
The Personal Assistant should be able to develop a supportive and caring relationship with the employer, undertake all duties in a friendly and helpful manner, and contact people on behalf of the employer when necessary.
Working Environment
The role involves working in the employer's home and supporting access to community activities.

Driving & Vehicle
* A full, clean driving licence is required. Use of a car may be needed, determined by the employer's needs and the applicant’s proximity.
* Prepare for business use on vehicle insurance to use the vehicle within work hours.
Training & Checks
* Be prepared to undergo training to best meet the employer's needs.
* Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) or criminal record check will be required after acceptance of a job offer.
