* Neos Engineering are partnered with a well-established and highly respected construction plant company that continues to invest heavily in its people, fleet and infrastructure. Due to growth and internal development, they are now seeking a Workshop Supervisor to take ownership of operations at their Burton upon Trent site.
* The Role
This is a workshop leadership role that is primarily office-based, focused on coordination, planning and performance — but it requires strong engineering knowledge to be effective.
You will not be expected to be on the tools full-time; however, your technical background will be critical in supporting engineers, making decisions, prioritising jobs and ensuring quality standards are consistently met.
You will act as the operational heartbeat of the workshop — keeping jobs moving, maintaining standards and driving efficiency.
Key responsibilities include:
* Planning and allocating daily workloads across the engineering team
* Providing technical guidance and support to engineers when required
* Overseeing servicing, maintenance and major repairs on construction plant equipment
* Monitoring job progress, turnaround times and workshop performance
* Ensuring all work meets manufacturer and company standards
* Managing documentation, job cards and internal systems
* Maintaining strict Health & Safety compliance
* Liaising with parts, suppliers and senior management to prevent delays and improve efficiency
* Supporting training, development and performance management of engineers
* The Candidate
This role suits a technically strong engineer who enjoys leadership, structure and organisation — or an existing Supervisor who understands the balance between office coordination and workshop credibility.
You will:
* Have solid experience working on construction plant machinery
* Have previous senior engineer, chargehand or supervisory experience
* Be confident making technical decisions and supporting diagnostics
* Have strong organisational and planning skills
* Understand workshop KPIs, efficiency and cost control
* Be comfortable leading a team and holding standards
* Hold a full UK driving licence
* Be professional, structured and commercially aware
