Job Responsibilities
1. Accept referrals via agreed protocols within the service.
2. Assess and support people with common mental health problems in self-management of their recovery.
3. Undertake patient-centred interviews to identify areas of change or recovery and assess risks to self and others.
4. Make decisions on the suitability of new referrals, adhering to departmental protocols, and refer unsuitable clients accordingly or escalate treatment as necessary.
5. Provide information and support for evidence-based high-volume, low-intensity psychological treatments, including guided self-help, computerised CBT, and pharmacological information.
6. Work may be face-to-face, via telephone, or through other media.
7. Educate and involve family members or others in treatment where appropriate and with patient consent.
8. Adhere to activity contracts regarding client contacts and clinical sessions to minimize waiting times and ensure accessible treatment.
9. Attend multidisciplinary meetings related to referrals or clients in treatment.
10. Complete all data collection requirements and maintain clinical records in line with policies.
11. Collaborate with team members to ensure consistency with the Stepped Care model.
12. Assess and address work and employment issues within therapy.
13. Liaise with other agencies and professionals as part of the patient care plan.
14. Identify and manage patient risks.
Professional Responsibilities
1. Maintain practice standards according to employer and regulatory guidelines, staying updated with new recommendations.
2. Ensure confidentiality of client information, sharing only as appropriate and in line with data protection and safeguarding protocols.
3. Stay informed on NICE-recommended treatments for common mental health issues.
4. Set, discuss, and review objectives regularly with senior therapists for professional development.
5. Attend regular clinical and managerial supervision sessions.
6. Participate in performance reviews and maintain CPD records to stay updated with latest theoretical and service delivery developments.
7. Attend mandatory training and relevant conferences/workshops.
8. Respect individual rights and maintain a respectful approach to others.

2. Maintain current knowledge of legislation, policies, and procedures related to mental health and primary care.
3. Ensure personal and colleagues' health and safety.
4. Handle patient and staff information securely, confidentially, and in compliance with legal standards.
