Waterman Building Structures’ busy Bristol office is seeking to recruit a Chartered or near Chartered Engineer to the position of Associate Director to form an integral part of the Structures team.
Reporting directly to the Regional Director, you will play a key leadership role in the delivery and management of structural engineering projects across a diverse portfolio. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer looking to take the next step in their career within a growing and dynamic regional office.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the design, inspection, and assessment of a wide range of structural materials and forms
* Manage multiple projects and clients across sectors including Retail, Industrial, Residential, Telecommunications, Technology, and Leisure
* Provide technical leadership and ensure high-quality project delivery across the team
* Take responsibility for resource planning, workload management, and project performance
* Develop and maintain strong client relationships, supporting repeat business and new opportunities
* Oversee financial management of projects, including fee monitoring and profitability
* Support and actively contribute to the mentoring and development of engineers within the team
* Work collaboratively with regional leadership to support business growth and strategy
About You
* Chartered or near Chartered Engineer (ICE or IStructE)
* Minimum of 10 years’ experience in structural engineering consultancy
* Proven track record in delivering complex projects across multiple sectors
* Strong experience in managing multiple clients and concurrent projects
* Excellent client-facing, communication, and leadership skills
* Demonstrated ability in time management, delegation, and team coordination
* Experience in financial and commercial management of projects
* A proactive, collaborative, and commercially aware approach
