About the Role
Reporting to Materials Manager you will be accountable for store teams ensuring prompt and accurate flow of materials to Production is a safe and efficient manner. Particular focus should be paid to Health and Safety procedures, inventory control and working to apply lean standards including 5S, whilst maximising the utilization of labour and space.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
7. Leading the Stores team by interpreting high level requirements and transferring to daily objectives to ensure materials/kits are supplied to Production accurately providing on time delivery
8. Managing safe working practices and ensuring safety adherence within Materials
9. Managing Stores Team Members to deliver day to day Pick sequences using both Takt and Hijunka boards
10. Managing all aspects of suppling parts to Production including reporting shortages, stock out issues and identifying root cause
11. Managing Stores Team Members to implement continuous improvement initiatives set via 5S audits and actioned using Kaizen newspaper
12. Identify the needs of your team and providing training to new and existing team members
13. Lead/Attend various meetings including start up, control room and accountability meetings
14. Liaising with cross functional team to ensure quality part delivery
15. Management and reporting of excess and obsolete inventory to Materials Manager
16. Management and reporting of weekly KPI process and ensure that process is delivered in an accurate and efficient manner
17. Knowledge of PIT in a safe and efficient manner including Counterbalance, Reach Truck, Pallet Stacker, Tugger Truck etc.
18. Prompt and accurate control of paperwork
19. Ensuring all goods are receipted in a timely fashion in line with KPI
20. Striving to improve BOM & inventory accuracy
21. Managing daily cycle count process, including investigation though to resolution
22. Adherence and auditing of FIFO procedure within Materials
23. Implementation of further JIT processes and projects
24. Striving to improve / maximize inventory capacity
25. Communicating escalated line shortages to Supply Chain
26. Driving PC to ensure PFEP picklists are available for material takt
27. Managing and implementation of PC requests
28. Compliance with internal environmental and waste management procedures
29. Implementation and development Standard Work procedures
30. Complete all time and attendance data and return to work information for HR department.
31. Manage personal performance and development of team members under your supervision
32. General Housekeeping Duties
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
33. Ideally educated to degree level or equivalent
34. Excellent communication, planning and organisational skills
35. People management/supervisory experience is essential
36. Proven experience within a similar role preferably from within manufacturing industry
37. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
38. Flexibility and ability to work in an environment that is fluid with constantly changing priorities
39. Knowledge of inventory control, lean manufacturing, takt time and continuous improvement
40. Ability to learn quickly, use your initiative and work as part of a team
41. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail is essential for success in this role
42. A logical and methodical approach to problem solving along with the ability to complete tasks in a timely manner to meet targets
43. Ability to govern progress to a detailed level and interpret system reports to bring about change as necessary
44. Self-motivation and initiative
45. IT literacy and Experience of ERP/MRP systems, particularly Oracle would be preferable.
46. Participation in supervising for success (SFS) and Behavioural Based Safety (BBS) training programs
47. Good understanding of the connection between stock accuracy and excellent customer service.
About you
48. Minimum 5 GCSE’s grade’s A to C including English and Maths or equivalent.
49. Strong Communication Skills both verbal and written.
50. A good standard of IT Skills with demonstrable experience of MS Office especially MS Excel.
51. Previous Admin experience.
Desirable:
52. Educated to A level / equivalent.
53. Experience of MRP systems.
54. Previous experience using stock control systems.
