Primary Teacher (Maths Specialist) – Day-to-Day & Long-Term Support
Location: Various settings across Cheshire East
Start Date: September 2025
Hours: 8:30am – 4:00pm (Term Time Only)
Pay: £130 – £170 per day (dependent on level of experience)
About the Role:
New Directions is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Primary Teacher (Maths Specialist) to provide day-to-day and long-term teaching support across our educational settings in Cheshire East. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a variety of schools, delivering high-quality, engaging mathematics lessons while supporting broader primary teaching across multiple subjects.
As a Maths Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in developing and inspiring pupils’ mathematical understanding, fostering confidence and mastery in numeracy, problem-solving, and reasoning skills. You will have the chance to implement evidence-based maths pedagogy, deliver innovative STEM-focused lessons, and embed maths across the curriculum, ensuring that all learners develop a strong foundation for future success.
What We’re Looking For:
We are looking for a Primary Teacher (Maths Specialist) who:
1. Has a passion for teaching maths and inspiring children to enjoy and excel in the subject.
2. Can design and deliver lessons that support maths mastery, fluency, and problem-solving skills.
3. Understands learner-centered approaches, differentiation, and inclusive teaching to meet the needs of all pupils.
4. Is confident using formative and summative assessment data to inform planning and track progress.
5. Has experience linking maths to real-world contexts and other curriculum subjects, including STEM activities.
6. Is adaptable, resilient, and comfortable teaching across multiple schools and year groups.
Key Responsibilities:
7. Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality maths lessons using innovative and effective pedagogical strategies.
8. Develop pupils’ understanding of key mathematical concepts, including number sense, algebra, geometry, data handling, and measurement.
9. Promote problem-solving, reasoning, and analytical thinking across all maths lessons.
10. Integrate maths into cross-curricular activities and real-world scenarios to enhance learning and engagement.
11. Provide support in other primary subjects as required, ensuring a broad and balanced curriculum.
12. Ensure learning experiences are inclusive, engaging, and differentiated to meet the needs of all pupils.
13. Maintain accurate records of pupil progress, using data-informed insights to guide future teaching.
14. Collaborate with colleagues to share best practice, support school improvement initiatives, and contribute to a maths-focused professional learning community.
15. Promote a positive learning environment that encourages curiosity, resilience, and a lifelong love of learning, particularly in mathematics.
