Our client is seeking a proactive and dynamic HSW Manager to lead health, safety, and wellbeing management on a major data centre fit-out project. As the HSW Manager, you will:
* Lead the Charge: Develop and implement the HSW strategy for the project, ensuring compliance with legal, contractual, and client requirements.
* Set the Standards: Create and enforce project-specific safety procedures tailored to the complexities of data centre fit-outs.
* Collaborate and Communicate: Chair regular HSW meetings with project leadership, client stakeholders, and subcontractors to ensure everyone is on the same page.
* Stay Vigilant: Conduct frequent, high-quality site inspections and audits, reporting findings and driving continuous improvement.
* Hold the Line: Monitor subcontractor performance against HSW standards, ensuring accountability for safe delivery.
* Investigate Incidents: Lead thorough investigations into accidents, incidents, and near-misses, identifying root causes and embedding lessons learned.
* Champion Wellbeing: Foster a strong wellbeing focus on site, supporting initiatives that enhance worker welfare, fatigue management, and mental health awareness.
* Be Approachable: Provide visible and approachable HSW leadership on site, coaching and supporting managers and supervisors.
* Document and Report: Ensure accurate reporting, documentation, and record-keeping in line with systems and client requirements.
* Stay Updated: Keep abreast of evolving health and safety legislation and industry best practices to ensure ongoing compliance.
What We’re Looking For:
* Demonstrable experience as an HSW Manager or Senior HSW Advisor in complex construction environments.
* Direct experience in data centre projects or other technically demanding fit-out environments.
* Strong working knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and CDM regulations.
* Proven leadership skills with the ability to influence at all levels, from operatives to client directors.
* Excellent communication, organisational, and reporting skills.
* Experience managing multiple subcontractors and high-risk activities concurrently.
* NEBOSH National Diploma (or NEBOSH General/Construction Certificate with significant relevant experience).
* Chartered or working towards Chartered Membership of IOSH (GradIOSH/CMIOSH).
