Overview
The post holder will provide support and assistance to Healthcare Professionals within all areas of the Trust. The role works under the direction of the Logistics Transport Team Leader and involves the movement of goods and services in the most efficient way, using the correct lifting and handling equipment. The post holder will be responsible for providing a high quality service from designated destinations, maintaining high standards of service delivery and ensuring the safety and well-being of patients, staff and visitors at all times. They will ensure that all vehicles meet the daily demands of this service and adopt a caring and friendly manner at all times.
Hours of work are 37.5 per week, between 6am and 9pm on a rota basis which will include weekends and bank holidays.
Main duties
The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that all vehicles are checked for any defects before driving and any defects are reported to the Team Leader on shift. They will provide a high quality transportation service from designated destinations, maintain high standards of service delivery and ensure safety and well-being of patients, staff and visitors. They will ensure vehicles meet daily demands. A basic knowledge of Health & Safety is required to correctly complete incident forms and report untoward incidents to Team Leaders. Ensure the Trust grounds are clear of scrap or unwanted items (furniture). Roll cages are to be collected daily.
Health & Safety and equipment — To maintain electric vehicles and equipment to defined standards, report defects to Team Leaders, carry out safety checks including re-charging and topping up of batteries as required. Radios to be collected from the Co-ordinators office at the start of every shift, switched on and fully charged. Demonstrates flexibility in response to operational needs regarding duties and hours of work. Assist Patient Escort with patient movement as required. Demonstrates own activities to new or less experienced employees and supports induction on new starters. Undertake any other duties reasonably required to the grade.
Communication — Liaise with clinical staff as to department needs, report and relay information regarding queries/problems. Ensure communication equipment is fit for daily use; test batteries daily and report faults to the Team Leader.
Other — Undertakes surveys or audits as necessary to own work; follow departmental policies and participate in changes to working practices. Use equipment safely and take a duty of care in relation to equipment. Demonstrates duties to new or less experienced employees.

Job responsibilities
Logistics Transport Duties
* Collect soiled linen from wards/departments and deliver to storage areas for later collection by Transport.
* Collect clean linen from designated storage areas and deliver to wards/departments, including urgent linen requests; place items in linen cupboards neatly.
* Undertake site cleaning internally and externally as directed by Team Leaders, wearing appropriate protective equipment.
* Assist with delivery of medical gases to the Trust and provide delivery service following ward/department requests.
* Distribute pharmaceuticals, including safe transportation and delivery to wards/departments of controlled drugs.
* Assist other staff with duties such as furniture removal.
* Safe use of personal equipment; use of expensive/highly complex equipment (e.g., electric vehicles).
* Maintain electric vehicles and equipment to defined standards; report defects; ensure vehicles are operational; perform safety checks including charging/topping up batteries.
* Collect radios from Co-ordinators office at start of shift; ensure they are switched on and charged.
* Adopt a flexible approach to duties and hours of work; assist Patient Escort with patient movement as required; support induction of new staff; undertake other duties as appropriate to the grade.
