The Trust is seeking a consultant general adult psychiatrist to work within the Bolton Mental Health Unit at the Rivington Unit, Royal Bolton Hospital. The post holder will act as the Responsible Clinician for up to 20 inpatients, both on an informal and detained basis, who reside within the South Bolton catchment area, and occasionally patients who have been placed out of their usual catchment area (averaging about 3‑4 patients of the cohort of 20).
Responsibilities
* Provide clinical leadership for the ward team and trainees.
* Conduct regular ward reviews and ward rounds, and support the team to complete the Commissioning and Performance Assessment (CPA).
* Undertake assessments of admissions to the service.
* Assist the team to diagnose and formulate management plans for all presentations.
* Assess and manage risk, including vulnerability, suicide risk, risks to health and safety, and risk of harm to others.
* Coordinate care with input from pharmacists, occupational therapists, and psychology staff.
* Prepare Mental Health Review Tribunal and Manager’s Hearing reports and attend subsequent hearings.
* Prepare consent to treatment paperwork and other MHA work such as Section 17 leave, section renewals, and CTOs.
* Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and external partners.
* Collaborate with psychiatrists from partner providers, such as Forensic and Rehabilitation Psychiatrists.
* Manage a 23‑bed ward with patients admitted from across the Trust’s patch.
