Job Description: Program Lead – Technology Strategy & Delivery

The Role

This role sits within our Technology unit, supporting M&G Life ambitions. Our technology purpose is clear: drive growth through consistent, trusted, customer-centric solutions. By challenging the status quo and staying agile, we align technology with business strategies and enable innovation.

Purpose of the Role

1. Provide leadership for technology within the business line, setting strategic direction and ensuring governance across all service management and delivery functions.
2. Own the technology strategy and roadmap, driving alignment with business objectives and ensuring seamless integration of services into operational processes.
3. Lead end-to-end delivery of technology initiatives, from strategic planning through execution, service transition, and continuous improvement in BAU.
4. Champion service excellence and innovation, leveraging emerging technologies, automation, and best practices to deliver resilient, scalable, and future-ready solutions.
5. Act as the accountable authority for technology priorities, balancing transformation ambitions with operational stability, risk management, and cost optimisation.
6. Shape and enforce service management standards, ensuring consistent performance, compliance, and customer experience across all technology services.

Key Responsibilities

7. Own E2E Delivery: Lead medium-to-high complexity technology programs, defining objectives, scope, resources, and expected outcomes.
8. Technology Strategy Execution: Translate strategic goals into actionable delivery plans, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture and innovation roadmap.
9. Governance & Oversight: Implement robust governance, risk management, and compliance frameworks across all technology initiatives.
10. Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate program outcomes and benefits to senior leadership and business stakeholders to secure buy-in.
11. Innovation Leadership: Identify opportunities for automation, cloud adoption, and digital transformation to enhance efficiency and customer experience.
12. Financial & Resource Management: Forecast budgets, manage cost drivers, and optimize resource allocation for both change and run functions.
13. Performance Monitoring: Track delivery against KPIs, proactively address risks, and ensure benefits realization post-implementation.
14. Vendor & Partner Management: Build strong relationships with technology partners and suppliers to ensure timely, quality delivery.
15. Knowledge Sharing: Conduct lessons-learned sessions and mentor project managers to uplift delivery capability across the team.

Skills & Competencies

16. Strategic Thinker: Ability to align technology initiatives with business growth objectives.
17. Leadership & Influence: Skilled at motivating teams and influencing senior stakeholders.
18. Technology Expertise: Strong understanding of enterprise platforms, cloud, automation, and digital innovation.
19. Program Management Excellence: Advanced knowledge of methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, hybrid) and governance frameworks.
20. Financial Acumen: Proven ability to manage multi-million budgets and optimize cost efficiency.
21. Communication: Exceptional written and verbal skills; confident in leading workshops and steering committees.
22. Problem Solving: Analytical mindset with ability to anticipate and mitigate risks.

Experience

23. Proven Track Record: Significant experience delivering complex technology programs end-to-end.
24. Financial Services: Essential; Life & Pensions desirable.
25. Regulatory & Risk Change: Strong background in delivering within highly controlled environments.
26. Innovation Delivery: Experience driving modernization initiatives (cloud migration, automation, digital platforms).
27. Stakeholder Management: Skilled at engaging senior leadership and external partners..
