Solomon Associates, a subsidiary of Hartford Steam Boiler and MunichRe, is seeking candidates for a Senior Refining Advisor position to work in a dynamic, fast-paced business environment. BASIC FUNCTION
The candidate will be a core member of Solomon’s Solutions Delivery team focused on Solomon’s global advisory business. The Senior Advisor will be responsible for client engagement, project management, benchmarking activities, maintaining technical integrity of advisory projects, and providing subject-matter expertise related to business performance and operations in Refining production operations. The candidate will directly contribute to the success and profitability of Solomon’s core businesses, with engagements possibly being individual or collaborative.
In this role, the candidate will work as a client-facing advisor, a collaborator with other client teams, and a creative problem-solver to enable client success. Solomon’s engagements cover a wide range of topics, from strategy to operational improvements. The Senior Advisor should have rounded expertise in multiple areas of refining production operations and become proficient in Solomon’s benchmarking methodologies and studies, which, combined with industry experience, demonstrate the benefits of Solomon’s approach to clients.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Services Delivery
2. Deliver services, products, and solutions, acting as a Project Manager or as a Refining Unit Subject Matter Expert.
3. Present benchmarking study results to clients, analyze client data to determine performance, and develop products and programs for performance improvement.
4. Review client data for accuracy and consistency.
5. Client Partner
6. Serve as Client Partner for assigned accounts, managing client relationships and acting as a trusted technical advisor for Solomon's services, studies, and products.
7. Internal Collaboration
8. Support product management teams, advise on customer feedback, and contribute to product development ideas.
9. Resource Planning
10. Manage project resources and costs, including forecasting and negotiations, using ERP systems.
EDUCATION
Required: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical, Petroleum, or related fields)
Preferred: Master’s degree or advanced professional degree (e.g., MBA, PhD)
WORK EXPERIENCE
Required: 15+ years in the Refining energy industry, including petrochemical operations or consultancy experience. At least 10 years in the industry, with experience in operations management, production, facilities engineering, maintenance, turnarounds, safety, costs, or supply chain.
Preferred: Refining or chemicals operations experience, consulting, process improvement, strategic planning, technical leadership, and familiarity with Solomon’s benchmarking studies.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
Demonstrated ability to translate data into practical solutions, approach clients with technical and commercial understanding, work with diverse backgrounds, present to executive levels, develop advisory business, manage projects, and communicate effectively. Familiarity with data analytics, engineering calculations, and Microsoft Office is required. Ability to influence change, coach others, and travel up to 25% domestically and internationally.
