Are you passionate about ensuring the safety, sustainability, and innovation of the built environment? Join our Building Control team at 3C Shared Services Building Control, delivering high-quality, customer-focused services to Cambridge and surrounding areas. You will manage a diverse portfolio of construction projects, ensure compliance with building regulations, and work with homeowners, developers, architects, and contractors. You will carry out inspections across construction stages with a focus on safety, energy efficiency, and sustainability, and build strong relationships with stakeholders while safeguarding the public interest. You will also mentor junior staff and contribute to team improvements and innovation.
Responsibilities
* Manage a diverse portfolio of construction projects from heritage sites to new developments.
* Ensure compliance with building regulations and statutory requirements.
* Carry out inspections and assessments at various construction stages, focusing on safety, energy efficiency, and sustainability.
* Engage with homeowners, developers, architects, and contractors to support project goals.
* Develop strong stakeholder relationships and act as a trusted partner while safeguarding public interest.
* Mentor junior staff and contribute to team-wide improvements and innovation.
About Us
3C Shared Services Building Control is a partnership between Huntingdonshire District Council, South Cambridgeshire District Council, and Cambridge City Council, delivering resilient, high-quality building control services.
Qualifications
* Registration with the Building Safety Regulator as a Building Inspector Class 2.
* Strong knowledge of building regulations, including fire safety, accessibility, and energy performance.
* Proficiency in examining Principal Designers' plans, conducting site inspections, compiling detailed reports, and maintaining accurate records.
* Proven ability to manage projects and deliver outstanding customer service.
* Ability to work independently and with excellent communication, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
* Full UK driving license and access to a vehicle to travel across the partnership area.
What We Offer
* Salary: £41,771 - £47,181 per annum (City Pay Band 6), pro rata for part time.
* Hours: 37 per week; flexible working patterns available.
* Location: Flexible – on site or at offices in Huntingdon, Cambourne, Cambridge, or home-based as appropriate.
* Benefits: 25 days’ annual leave rising to 30 after five years, public holidays (pro rata for part time), Local Government Pension Scheme, learning and development opportunities, and other staff benefits.
