Educational Psychology - Assistant Psychologist Permanent Contract Grade 4 - £33,366 - £40,476 Consultation grade - subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity Review Working 36.5 hours per week For existing employees, priority movers are eligible to apply, subject to meeting eligibility criteria. We are seeking assistant psychologists to support the work of educational psychology in Birmingham. Birmingham is a vibrant city with a culturally and ethnically diverse population and the largest youth population in Europe, We are renowned for being a pioneering city. Birmingham City Council employs more than 10,000 people and we have big plans to reshape this incredible place for generations to come. Contributing to these plans, assistant psychologists will have an important role working alongside educational psychologists to meet the high demand for our services. The Educational Psychology Service has an excellent reputation and has a strong commitment to innovation, quality improvement, research and development. We are engaged in a variety of initiatives at many levels – from individual school projects such as ‘SCERTS’, ELSA, VIG, VERP and MeLSA to city wide initiatives such Trauma Informed Attachment Aware Schools and Restorative Practice. In support of service delivery priorities some assistants may undertake designated roles in certain projects. We have been trading successfully with schools since 2011 and have seen demand for our services grow year on year. The employment of permanent Assistant Psychologists is a significant successful development for the service in supporting ongoing quality services. We are able to offer you a wide range of enriching experiences to psychology graduates who have had substantial experience of working with children and young people within educational contexts. This will include opportunities to assist with locality based or city-wide casework, and contribute to development work, research and to the delivery of training. This role will also involve Assistant Psychologists in contributing to our statutory work. We are looking to appoint people with good relevant undergraduate or postgraduate psychology degree qualifications (GBC eligibility), who are committed to applying their psychological knowledge in promoting positive educational, social and emotional outcomes for city’s children and young people. We want colleagues who are well organised, good communicators, able to take responsibility for managing their own workload and committed to partnership working.
