Senior HR Consultant
Hybrid | 3 days office‑based + client sites
Morgan Philips is delighted to be exclusively representing a growing and ambitious HR consultancy in the search for a high-calibre Senior HR Consultant to join their high-performing team.
This is a fast-paced, client-facing role for a commercially minded HR professional who can operate with a high degree of autonomy. You’ll be expected to lead complex employee relations work end-to-end, provide clear and confident advice to senior stakeholders, and balance legal risk with pragmatic, business-focused outcomes.
The Role
* Deliver a high-quality outsourced HR service to a diverse portfolio of clients
* Act as a trusted advisor to business owners, directors, and senior leaders, confidently influencing decisions
* Lead complex, high-risk ER casework end-to-end, including disciplinaries, grievances, capability, absence, redundancies, restructures, and TUPE
* Take full ownership of cases, including strategy, decision-making, and outcomes, rather than purely supporting or advising
* Provide clear, legally sound and commercially pragmatic advice, identifying risks and recommending appropriate actions
* Lead redundancy processes, including design, consultation, pooling, scoring methodology, and managing challenge
* Navigate complex cases involving overlapping risks (e.g. performance, health conditions, potential discrimination)
* Manage a varied caseload, often handling multiple concurrent ER matters with differing levels of complexity and risk
* Prepare high-quality documentation including outcome letters, reports, and policies
* Attend client sites regularly, embedding yourself within client environments where required
* Support wider HR activity including organisational change, performance management, engagement, and talent initiatives
* Contribute to business development, client proposals, and presentations
* Mentor and support more junior team members
* Deliver training to clients and stay ahead of UK employment law developments
About You
* Strong HR generalist background, ideally within a consultancy or highly client-facing HRBP role
* Proven track record of independently managing complex ER cases, with clear ownership of decisions and outcomes
* Able to confidently articulate:
* Your role vs others involved in cases
* The level of risk involved
* Your rationale for decisions taken
* Experienced in handling high volumes of ER casework, including high-risk and sensitive matters
* Strong, up-to-date knowledge of UK employment law, with the ability to apply it in practice—not just understand it conceptually
* Confident advising on dismissal risk, legal exposure, and alternative approaches
* Experience leading or playing a key role in redundancy programmes, with a clear understanding of your personal accountability
* Able to balance legal compliance with commercial outcomes, particularly when advising senior stakeholders
* Comfortable challenging clients and managing pushback where required
* Strong judgement and decision-making capability in ambiguous or high-pressure situations
* Highly organised, resilient, and able to manage competing priorities across multiple clients
* CIPD Level 7 qualified (or equivalent)
Why Apply?
* High-impact, varied role working with a diverse and interesting client base
* Genuine autonomy and ownership of your work
* Exposure to complex and challenging ER scenarios
* Opportunity to further develop advisory, commercial, and leadership capability
* Collaborative, high-performing team environment
* Hybrid working with significant client interaction
