About the role
We are seeking an experienced Construction Estimator to join our growing team in Portsmouth. This is an office-based role with the opportunity to take on some Quantity Surveying responsibilities. You will play a key part in pricing projects accurately, managing costs, and supporting the commercial success of a range of residential and commercial construction projects.
Key responsibilities
Prepare detailed cost estimates and tenders from drawings, specifications, and bills of quantities
Measure quantities and assist in preparing bills of quantities
Obtain, analyse, and negotiate supplier and subcontractor quotations
Identify project risks, value engineering opportunities, and cost-saving options
Support cost control throughout the project lifecycle
Assist with valuations, variations, and final accounts (QS duties)
Work closely with project managers, site teams, and directors
Maintain and develop relationships with clients and supply chain partners
About you
Previous experience as a Construction Estimator (experience in Quantity Surveying a strong advantage)
Background within small to medium sized construction or contracting environment preferred
Strong knowledge of UK construction methods, materials, and regulations
Proficient in take-offs, measurement, and pricing using industry software/Excel
Excellent numerical, analytical, and negotiation skills
Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
Confident communicator with a collaborative approach
