We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Physical ActivityLead to support the delivery of an innovative programme aimed atimproving outcomes for people living with cancer and obesity in Purbeck. Thisis a 6 month pilot project for 14 hours a week. The role will require the postholder to be self-employed and to have public liability insurance.
The role will focus on designing and delivering safe,evidence-based physical activity interventions, while working collaborativelywith healthcare professionals and the social prescribing team to embed physicalactivity into care pathways before, during and after treatment.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will design and deliver safe, inclusive andevidence-based physical activity interventions for individuals living withcancer and obesity, supporting participation before, during, and aftertreatment.
They will work closely with Social Prescribers, cliniciansand multidisciplinary teams to embed physical activity within care pathways andsupport behaviour change.
The role includes developing partnerships with local leisureproviders and community organisations to expand accessible activityopportunities, as well as providing guidance and training to professionals topromote physical activity within cancer care.
The post holder will contribute to pathway redesign, monitoroutcomes and impact, and support the development of sustainable,community-based provision, ensuring all activities meet health and safety andprofessional standards.

Develop and implement a range of physicalactivity interventions tailored to different stages of the cancer pathway(pre-, during and post-treatment).
Work collaboratively with Social Prescribers,clinicians, and wider multidisciplinary teams to integrate physical activityinto care pathways.
Support individuals to adopt and maintain activelifestyles through effective behaviour change techniques and ongoingmotivation.
Build and maintain strong partnerships withlocal leisure providers, voluntary organisations, and community groups toexpand accessible activity opportunities
Contribute to the redesign of patient pathways,ensuring physical activity is consistently embedded within care processes.
Work collaboratively to provide training,advice, and resources to healthcare professionals and community partners topromote the role of physical activity in cancer care.
Monitor engagement, outcomes, and impact ofinterventions, contributing to evaluation and continuous improvement of theprogramme.
Ensure all activities are delivered in line withhealth and safety, safeguarding, and professional standards.
Support the development of sustainable,community-based physical activity opportunitiesbeyond the life of the project.
Include co-production to help design the fitnessintervention.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Level 4 qualification in Obesity or Cancer.
* Experience of working with people with long term health conditions and limited mobility.
* Strong technical knowledge of form, technique and safe progression for all fitness levels.
* Friendly, confident and approachable coaching style.
* Completion of, or willingness to complete RPSH Level 2 Award in Supporting Behaviour Change.
* Level 3 in Exercise Referral.
* Completion of or willingness to undertake Cancer recovery, prehabilitation and rehabilitation awareness training.
Experience
* 2 years experience of leading fitness/ exercise classes.
Skills and Aptitude
* Registration with Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA).
* Good understanding of the importance of empathy when helping to motivate and encourage patients with impairments and/or limitations.
* Demonstrable experience of working using a therapeutic, person-centred approach.
* Experience of supporting and working with vulnerable adults.
* Good communication - verbal/written at all levels within different staff groups.
* Good time management.
* Be able to work on own initiative.
* Facilitate learning of others.
* Ability to be flexible and adapt to new environments.
* Works well with in a team.
* Demonstrates understanding of confidentiality.
* Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes, with an ability to travel between sites as required.
