We are a growing, dynamic law firm based in London, committed to delivering high-quality legal services to our clients across multiple practice areas. As part of our continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Compliance Officer to strengthen our regulatory framework and ensure the firm continues to operate in line with all applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
The Role
The Compliance Officer will play a key role in maintaining and enhancing the firm’s compliance and risk management processes. The successful candidate will work closely with senior management and legal teams to ensure adherence to SRA regulations, AML obligations, and internal compliance policies.
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee the firm’s compliance framework and ensure adherence to Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) requirements.
* Support the COLP/COFA function and assist with regulatory reporting where required.
* Develop, review, and implement internal compliance policies and procedures.
* Conduct regular compliance monitoring and internal audits.
* Manage AML/KYC processes, ensuring regulatory obligations are met.
* Provide compliance advice and guidance to partners and staff.
* Identify and mitigate regulatory and operational risks.
* Deliver compliance training to staff and support awareness of regulatory obligations.
* Investigate compliance breaches and assist with remedial actions.
* Maintain accurate compliance records and documentation.
Requirements
* Minimum 5 years’ experience in a compliance role within a law firm or regulated legal environment.
* Strong knowledge of SRA regulations, AML regulations, and UK legal compliance requirements.
* Experience supporting or working alongside COLP and/or COFA functions.
* Strong understanding of risk management frameworks within legal practice.
* Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with legal teams.
* Ability to operate independently and manage multiple priorities.
* Previous experience within a growing or mid-sized law firm.
* Experience with regulatory audits or SRA interactions.
