Job Description:
The service manager has responsibility for coordinating staff and resources to achieve high standards of care, considering the physical, social, and psychological needs of the service users. Ensuring their welfare and compliance with organizational standards, statutory, and contractual requirements. The role involves operating within a legislative framework and promoting the organization's values and care ethos.
The area Service Manager will manage and support managers for five supported living projects and community activities for adults and children of Lynton Community Care. The service manager reports directly to the Registered Individual.
Key Responsibilities
* Refer, assess, liaise with previous care teams, families, and advocates to develop personalized care and risk management plans.
* Maintain good communication and relationships with service users, relatives, and professionals involved in their care.
* Ensure compliance with relevant statutory requirements and best practices, including the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (revised 2012), Health & Safety, COSHH, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards.
* Control the environment ensuring health and safety legislation, infection control, and environmental health standards are met. Conduct risk assessments and fire checks to ensure safety.
* Work with CIW to understand and comply with Fundamental Standards and carry out statutory notifications as required.
* Manage legal and statutory documentation, including insurance and enrollment documents.
* Document maintenance issues and ensure appropriate actions are taken.
* Monitor and investigate complaints, generate reports, and implement corrective actions and service improvements.
* Assist with staff recruitment, induction, and training requirements.
* Promote openness and honesty, support staff decision-making, and foster service improvements.
* Hold regular staff meetings, support staff development, and provide supervision opportunities.
* Build positive relationships with staff and establish effective communication mechanisms.
* Participate in disciplinary processes, including suspensions, investigations, and decisions, consulting HR as needed.
* Manage staff scheduling, including shift coverage, absences, holidays, and sickness.
* Oversee medication management, including ordering, disposal, and auditing.
* Manage budgets and monitor expenditure, including petty cash, food shopping, and activity budgets.
* Safeguard service users and address safeguarding issues.
* Handle applications related to Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards and collaborate with paid personal representatives to ensure legal compliance of care plans.
* Be on call out of hours for advice, guidance, and incident response.
* Attend supervision and engage in Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
* Contribute to strategic planning, decision-making, and business growth.
* Perform other duties as determined appropriate by the Director.
* Manage financial aspects and write/audit behavioral reports.
The service manager must have the skills and qualifications to support both adults and children living with learning disabilities.
