Governance Officer

As Governance Officer you will provide an effective governance and secretariat service, supporting the organisation in making decision-making and ensuring governance-related regulatory compliance. Supporting our formal committee structures, and the leadership team, you will focus on the effective delivery of the governance framework and develop best practice to ensure good governance.
Location: Flexible hybrid working arrangements between home and Prima offices (Columbus Quay or Twickenham Drive)
Salary: £33,986 Per annum
Governance Officer Main Duties:
1. Act as the liaison between the leadership team and Board members, develop briefings as and when required to convey key messages to both employees and members.
2. Offer advice and support to colleagues when preparing reports and briefings to Board members.
3. Accountable for supporting and servicing Boards and Committee meetings; including, secretariat services, minute taking and meeting coordination and forward planning, to enable effective management of the Group.
4. Provide input to the quarterly in-depth Governance Report and all associated ad hoc or regular reports required for all Boards and Committees.
5. Provide a day-to-day governance service including designing and developing processes, advising Boards and employees on requirements and reviewing and challenging current and future processes.
6. Accountable for compiling the evidence necessary to satisfy an In-Depth Assessment, or other governance related regulatory compliance requirement. Working closely with the leadership team to draw together the evidence required.
7. Manage the Boards and Committee appraisal process, develop, implement and manage training plans for members in-line with this and feed into the Board succession planning process.
8. Manage the effectiveness reviews for Board and committees, collating responses for feedback and review.
9. Manage all administrative tasks for members, including, recruitment, induction, subsistence claims, subscriptions, conference, and events.
10. Manage the policy framework to ensure the processes around the Group’s corporate policies and procedures are updated within the necessary time frames and then approved via the relevant Committees and/or Board.
11. Oversee the submission of the National Housing Federation Code of Governance and Governance Financial Viability Standard Self-Assessment for the Group.
12. Working within a confidential environment, where a relationship of mutual trust is essential, to ensure that commercially sensitive and/or confidential information is handled appropriately and remains secure.

13. Relevant experience or educated to A’ Level standard or equivalent is preferred.

Skills & Competencies for the role:
31. Experience of working with a Board of management.
32. Experience of working within a confidential environment
33. Experience of working within a Governance environment and a good working knowledge of the governance systems within an organisation would be desirable.
34. Experience in housing associations, not for profits or public sector organisations, would be advantageous in this role.
35. A clear understanding of the role of ICT in service delivery.
36. Knowledge and understanding of the process relating to governance and regulatory compliance would be desirable.
