We are looking for a Machine Shop Technician to join us in a hands-on role, responsible for processing plans and implementing new product designs, along with the continual improvement of existing designs throughout the manufacturing facility.
The Technician has skills across multiple areas within the machine shop and manufacturing engineering including programming, prove-out, tool and jig design and setting, operation of a wide variety of CNC machines and control systems, whilst always considering cost, quality and delivery, along with process and asset security and optimisation. The Technician will also be expected to develop the skills already demonstrated in these areas.

About the job:
10. Be highly involved in contributing to the entire manufacturing process, from engineering design, through machining to delivery.
11. Programming, setting, proving-out and operating CNC machines in turning, grinding, metrology, flexible machining centre, heavy machining, heavy grinding.
12. Producing complex components according to requirements.
13. Working and measuring to very tight tolerances (within several Micron range).
14. Working from and understanding engineering drawings and computer-generated models.
15. Applying knowledge of materials and machining methods.
16. Work with minimal supervision and plan workload effectively to achieve targets and KPIs.
17. Programming, prove-out and editing of CNC Programmes including use of software tools such as Vericut and Delcam.
18. Jig and Tool design.
About you:
19. Experienced in operating 5-axis and multi-pallet machine tools using a Siemens 840D control.
20. A number of years’ experience in operating precision CNC machinery before progressing to part-programming using modern day software.
21. NC Programming of components using Feature Cam programming software experience.
22. The production of both cubic and cylindrical components ranging in size from 10kg to 14 tonnes.
23. Skilled working with a range of materials but generally cast irons, steels, and bronze alloys.
24. Manufacturing components to achieve critical geometrical tolerancing and ensuring product conformity.
25. Skilful use of hands and tools for intricate tasks.
26. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues that arise during machining processes.
27. Ability to work through repetitive tasks and complex problems without frustration.
28. Flexibility to work to the needs of the business, including working different shift patterns and overtime as and when required.
