Join Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy as a Health and Safety Specialist. You will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and sustainability of our offshore wind farm operations off the UK East Coast (Lowestoft). Lead the way in creating a safer, greener future by driving Health and Safety excellence on-site.
We are looking for a Health and Safety Specialist who will provide substantial support to our Offshore wind farm Service operations teams based in Harwich and ensure appropriate health, safety and environmental arrangements are in place. The Environmental Health and Safety specialist will implement policies to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
This role will be responsible for collecting and reporting observations of near‑misses, accidents, incidents, and deviations from agreed standards and efficiently reporting through the agreed communication channels. All Health and Safety incidents and occurrences will be reported, investigated, corrective actions allocated, and incident workflow managed through to closure, as per Siemens Gamesa procedures and local legal requirements.
How You’ll Make An Impact
* Engage with and promote the “Zero Harm” EHS Culture
* Support local engagement and alignment to the overall EHS strategic objectives
* Full and effective implementation of the company’s health, safety & environmental management systems
* Proactive monitoring, hazard identification and facilitating the implementation of effective control measures
* Partner with operations management and employees to provide advice and guidance on legislation, standards, and local expectations/guidelines
* Communicate and collaborate with other EHS team members across the business to share learning and develop best practices
* Create, develop, and assist with delivery of EHS inductions and training
* Assist in the completion and regular review of risk assessments
* Ensure all accidents, incidents, and near misses are recorded, reported, and investigated in accordance with company procedures and all corrective actions are identified, implemented, monitored, and reviewed
* Compile, analyze, and act upon EHS statistics and KPI’s, sharing insights throughout the department as necessary
* Maintain all relevant health, safety and environmental records (e.g., records of thorough examinations, risk assessments, training records, etc.)
* Undertake any reasonable activity that assists the business and the fulfillment of EHS‑related objectives
* Promote Lesson Learned and knowledge sharing with other sites across the region
What You Bring
* A passion for renewable energy and a sense for the importance of leading the change
* NEBOSH or equivalent level 5/6 EHS qualification is preferable, or willingness to work towards it in a reasonable timeframe
* Previous EHS experience in an operational/engineering environment, ideally within a power service or other heavily regulated industry
* Demonstrable experience providing pragmatic EHS guidance and problem‑solving ability
* Experience working in a demanding, high‑performance work environment and team‑oriented collaborative culture
* Experience dealing with regulatory bodies
* Ability to take control of a situation and manage unplanned events
* Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships, managing expectations & perceptions with internal and external stakeholders
* Proficiency with mainstream software packages
* Full UK/EU driving licence
* Willingness to travel
