Minimum MRCP part 1 is ESSENTIAL to apply.
The ideal candidate will possess UK experience and have passed the Membership of the Royal College Physicians exams.
Trust Grade Registrar / Fellow in STROKE Medicine
Duration: 12 months rolling fixed term
Rota: Full time with on calls.
These are posts at the level of a Specialist Registrar in Medicine. The posts include opportunities to partake in an on-call Registrar rota covering the medical wards across one of the three UHL sites, as well as on-calls in Stroke and Acute Medical units. These positions are suitable for those who have completed core level training and wish to pursue a higher career in Medical Specialties.
The responsibilities of the post are similar to those of an IM3 or ST3 in Medicine.
The main duties include:
* Ensuring a safe and high standard of care for all patients
* Participating in the running of the department/ward
* Providing clinical supervision of Junior doctors on medical wards and/or in the on-call team
* Providing senior medical input for the on-call Medical Team, especially Out of Hours, and potentially leading the cardiac arrest team
* Assisting in achieving the DOH Clinical Quality Indicators
Main duties of the job
All posts have a service element. The following covers the majority of duties, with minor variations across hospitals:
* Supervise, monitor, and assist Junior Medical Doctors in managing in-patients
* Liaise between nurses, junior doctors, patients, relatives, and senior medical staff
* Attend and participate in ward rounds as scheduled
* Engage in emergency work, contributing senior input to the on-call team, which may include leading the arrest team, supervising a medical admissions unit, reviewing patients on base wards, and providing medical opinions in other specialties
* Participate in Medical Outpatient Clinics
* Perform basic medical procedures independently, such as Lumbar Puncture, Abdominal Paracentesis, and Ascitic drain insertion
* Attend weekly educational and multidisciplinary sessions
* Teach medical students as directed
* Cooperate with personnel department on monitoring work hours and personnel issues
* Attend induction at each hospital or new department
* Comply with all local policies, including dress code, annual, and study leave
