Thank you for your interest in the Specialty Doctor post in Community Paediatric Service. Applications are invited for the post of Speciality Doctor in Community Paediatrics and Child Health (Hounslow Community Healthcare - HCH).
The role of Specialty Doctor in Community Paediatrics will be based at Heart of Hounslow Centre for Health, 92 Bath Road, Hounslow TW3 3EL.
The role may suit Paediatricians considering a long-term career in Community Paediatrics or who are looking to gain more experience in Community Paediatrics as part of their career development.
The Service offers care to children and young people in the Hounslow who have neuro‑disabling or neurodevelopmental conditions. We have close links with our colleagues in General Paediatrics, specialties and therapy services both within the local hospitals and in the community.
The role will provide clinics predominantly at Heart of Hounslow Centre for Health. The post is 10 PAs with no out of hours on‑call commitment.
We are keen to support areas of personal interest within the service, e.g., teaching and safeguarding. We also offer opportunities to develop leadership and management skills and will support career progression within Specialty Doctor grades or through the CESR process.
Main duties of the job
The aim of the Child Development Service is to provide timely holistic child and family health assessments identifying health needs, providing care plans to meet the need, working with education and social care to produce where appropriate the Health and Education and Care Plan (EHCP). Multi‑disciplinary joint assessment clinics for children with multiple difficulties are held once a month with a paediatrician, physiotherapist and occupational therapist. Weekly autism assessment is done jointly by paediatrician, specialist SLT, and specialist OT.
Main responsibilities of the post holder
* To be responsible for provision of medical services to school aged children in Hounslow.
* Pre‑school age and school age child development work, including assessment of autism, and where appropriate participation in multi‑disciplinary work.
* Adoption and fostering medical work for Hounslow where relevant.
* Child Protection assessments / contributing to child protection on call rota.
* Contribute to regular training of specialist Registrars, foundation year 2 trainee, medical students, health visitors and school nurses. Undertake and to contribute to audits within the department.
