Role Purpose
The Dyslexia Assessor will be responsible for conducting comprehensive diagnostic assessments for children, young people, and/or adults, producing detailed written reports with clear recommendations. You will work closely with teachers, psychologists, and other professionals to support individuals in education, training, or workplace contexts.
Key Responsibilities
* Undertake full diagnostic assessments for dyslexia (and other specific learning difficulties where trained).
* Interpret assessment results and provide clear, accessible written reports including diagnosis, recommendations, and reasonable adjustments.
* Liaise with parents, carers, employers, schools, and other professionals to ensure support strategies are understood and implemented.
* Maintain accurate and confidential records in line with GDPR and professional standards.
* Contribute to a multidisciplinary team approach, sharing expertise and supporting the development of inclusive practice.
* Engage in CPD and maintain professional accreditation standards.
Essential Criteria
* Current BDA (British Dyslexia Association) accreditation at the appropriate level to undertake and sign off diagnostic assessments (e.g. AMBDA, APC, or equivalent).
* Qualified Teacher (QTS) with specialist SpLD training or Psychologist with appropriate professional registration and SpLD assessment accreditation.
* Demonstrated experience of conducting full diagnostic assessments for dyslexia.
* Excellent knowledge of current best practice in SpLD assessment, interventions, and reasonable adjustments in education and workplace settings.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce high-quality, detailed reports.
