We are seeking a dedicated, confident, and experienced Year 6 Teacher to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Derby, starting ASAP. This is a fantastic opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about supporting upper Key Stage 2 pupils as they prepare for SATs and transition to secondary education. As a Year 6 Teacher, you will be responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing lessons across the curriculum, while supporting pupils’ academic, social, and emotional development. You will play a crucial role in preparing pupils for SATs and ensuring they leave the school ready for the next stage of their education. Key Responsibilities Plan and deliver high-quality lessons in line with the Year 6 curriculum Prepare pupils for SATs using engaging and effective teaching strategies Assess, track, and monitor pupil progress accurately Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all pupils, including SEN Promote positive behaviour and high expectations Create a structured, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and other staff Communicate effectively with parents and carers Contribute to staff meetings, planning sessions, and school initiatives Follow safeguarding and school policies at all times The Ideal Candidate The successful candidate will: Hold QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) Have recent experience teaching upper Key Stage 2, ideally Year 6 Be confident in SATs preparation and assessment Have strong classroom management and organisational skills Be enthusiastic, reflective, and child-centred in approach Be a collaborative team player with excellent communication skills Be committed to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing The school is located in Derby, with good transport links and a friendly, supportive school community.
