Are you interested in working for an award winning social care charity? Personal Assistants (Support Workers) have the most important role within Enable by making a positive difference every day to the lives of the people we support. No two days are the same for our Personal Assistants but what we can guarantee is that you will be supporting someone who requires support to achieve their goals and outcomes – whatever they may be!
Each person we support has different support requirements, so your support worker role may include assisting them with various aspects of personal care, moving and handling or positive behavioural support whilst expanding their social networks and connections.
Enable creates a bespoke team around every individual we support, and our team of Personal Assistants work collaboratively to ensure the safety, wellbeing and aspirations of the people we support are met.
The best in You brings out the best in Me.
The people we support have many varied interests and hobbies and have many of the same dreams and aspirations as we do; they just too often do not get the opportunity to experience these same opportunities. So whatever your interests are; be it sewing, baking, having a cup of tea and chat to horse riding, swimming or hill-walking, we want to hear from you!
A career with Enable is as rewarding as it is diverse; Personal Assistants at their best have the potential to truly bring out the best in the people we support.
The Arden Project is situated across three areas in the Southside of Glasgow, Arden, Mount Florida and Govanhill. The service provides housing support to people with mental health and aims to enable people to live independently in their local community. Though staff are present 24 hours per day, support is based on individually assessed hours tailored to the needs, wants, wishes and lifestyle choices of the people who use the service.
Key Responsibilities
I support individuals to manage their daily activities, personal care, medication, finances and household tasks, and help them access community services and local opportunities such as cafés, parks, transportation and cultural events. I listen and respond to their feelings, encourage attendance at health appointments and facilitate social engagement to maintain their mental and physical wellbeing.
Qualifications / Requirements
* Ability to adapt your communication style to develop enjoyable relationships with the people we support.
* Commitment to work with individuals through their personal support plans to ensure they achieve their goals and outcomes and celebrate their successes.
* Positive and flexible outlook, able to work independently and as part of a team.
* No prior care experience required – we recruit based on values and transferrable skills.
Enable needs you and your values to help us create an equal society for every person who has a learning disability. We are an inclusive employer, offering a supportive environment that values diversity and equal opportunity.
