As a Building Surveyor at Tesco, you'll play a vital role in keeping our stores safe, functional and welcoming for customers and colleagues alike – because every little helps. You'll bring your MRICS or MCIOB qualified expertise to identify and resolve issues efficiently, always prioritising safety, compliance and quality. The role is nation‑wide with a building surveyor focus predominantly across the region north of the River Thames, you'll make a real difference to the shopping experience of thousands of customers every day.

Responsibilities
* Conduct building dilapidation/defect diagnosis inspections, liaising with the wider maintenance team to ensure the right solutions are implemented.
* Carry out building related surveys and inspections to support the field teams in identifying risks, planning works and preparing specifications for remedial works.
* Perform quality and cost assurance checks of maintenance building works.
* Review contractors’ estimates for appropriateness and value for money.
* Collaborate with the wider maintenance team to support the development of a planned maintenance regime (PPMs) for buildings to ensure the estate is effectively maintained.
* Provide technical input into maintenance of building fabric across a variety of building types.
* Work closely with maintenance teams to provide building maintenance solutions and ensure compliance.
* Lead individual maintenance projects related to the improvement of building maintenance and health & safety.
* Ensure statutory compliance on all matters related to building maintenance (CDM, work‑at‑height, asbestos, etc.).
* Input into design standards and Building Condition Survey process to ensure appropriate building materials are specified and survey outputs are relevant.
Qualifications
Experience:
* Chartered RICS or CIOB Building Surveyor
* Degree or equivalent experience level qualification in Building Surveying or Construction
* Experience in retail or equivalent building surveying or construction desirable
Operational skills:
* Excellent influencing and communication skills
* Ability to articulate technical information
* Excellent collaboration skills across a large organisation
* Strong people management and leadership skills
* Ability to manage large quantities of data
* Excellent organisational skills
